Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, in addition to the data shown in the comments form, we also collect the visitor’s IP address and browser information which helps detect unwanted comments.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy can be found at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile image will be displayed to the public along with your comment.

Environments

If you upload images to your site, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Site visitors can download images from the site and find the location information within them.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and site address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to re-type your details when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our sign-in page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is destroyed when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your session will remain active for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only contains the ID of the article you edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other sites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (such as videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other sites behaves in the same way as when the visitor visits the other site.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. If you have an account and are logged in to that site, your interaction with the embedded content may be tracked.

Who do we share your data with?

When you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

How long do we keep your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a queue for approval.

For users who open an account on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information (except for changing their username) at any time. Site administrators can also see and edit this information.

What are your rights over your data?

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to export the personal data we hold about you, along with any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all the personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
