One of the most important issues when sending cargo abroad is the shipping fee to be paid for the destination of the shipment (for example Germany, Russia or Australia). The weight and volume (deci) of the shipment are taken into account in the shipping fee calculation.
Desi Calculation Formula
For example, let’s say you are sending an export sample to Germany, Turkey’s important trading partner. In this case, you can calculate the volumetric weight of your shipment using the deci calculation formula.
The Desi calculation formula is as follows:
Desi = (Width x Length x Height) / Volumetric Area (5000)
Correct Packaging
When you want to send a 5 kilo sample to Germany, you must first prepare your package correctly. Incorrect packaging can increase your shipping costs. During the deci calculation, the weight or deci value, whichever is higher, is charged according to that value.
For example, if you pack the sample you are sending to Berlin in a larger box than necessary, your volume will increase and you will have to pay more. You can reduce your costs with the right packaging.
Parcel Volume Calculation Example
Let’s apply the formula above to calculate your box volume. Let’s assume that the dimensions of your box are 60x40x40 cm.
Calculation:
Desi = 60×40×40 / 5000 = 19.2
In this case, the weight of your shipment is 5 kilograms and the desi value is determined as 19.2. The pricing will be made based on the desi value. In other words, pricing is done based on the figure of 19.2.
